2023 Medicine Hat Cowboy Poetry and Western Music Show
The 2023 Medicine Cowboy Poetry and Western Music Show was held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Medicine Hat College Theatre. This year the afternoon program was expanded to five hours, including those of many ages performing for the first time, local poets and musicians, and some from away.
Something new this year, the Chuckwagon Supper was a big hit. The stew, biscuits, pie and fellowship were delicious! Also new this year were some “country” vendors selling their wares. The audience bought raffle tickets and bid on silent auction items.
The evening show featured MHCP Vice-President, Singer Songwriter, Shelley Goldbeck, DTM, as the emcee and “warm-up poet”. Then John Glawson, aka Ol’ Ugly kept the audience in stitches for over half and hour. After a short break, Eli Barsi, Singer Songwriter and her husband, bass player, John, from Saskatchewan, shared many of Eli’s own compositions, as well as covering many of our favourite cowboy songs.
By all reports it was a great event. See you next year!
2024 Medicine Hat Cowboy Poetry and Western Music Show will be held on October 4 and 5, 2024. Details to follow.
