I was born and raised in Qualicum Beach, on Vancouver Island. At the time I would describe this as a small, tight knit working class community supported by the forestry industry.
I attended the University of Victoria (English Lit) and then the University of Western Ontario (Library Science).
I have worked in the public library industry in Regina, Edmonton and now Medicine Hat where I am the chief librarian of the Medicine Hat Public Library.
I am fond of many genres of writing and poetry. I particularly appreciate the performative and character aspects of cowboy poetry and the connection with the rural people who are so important to the culture of this place.
I was pleased to be a founding member of the Medicine Hat Cowboy Poetry Association. Life has required that I resign from the Board but I continue to be a cheerleader for cowboy poetry in Medicine Hat.
